Can someone please clarify the following for me? (I am new to Mapguide open
source)
1. If you have MGE 2008 installed on a server, how is it different from
having MGOS installed? Is there a difference between the installation files
you receive from Autodesk and the installation files you download from the
MGOS website? Could you have MGE and Open Source running on the same server,
or are they the same thing?
2. From the requirements page
(http://mapguide.osgeo.org/system_requirements.html), it looks like in order
to have MGOS up and running you need to have MapGuide Server and MapGuide
Web Server Extensions installed on a server (ie: Microsoft IIS 6.0 on
Windows Server 2003) and have Studio installed on a PC (or your server). Can
you have MGOS up and running without a server (for example: all components
installed on your home Window XP PC?)
I understand that these questions will seem fairly obivious to most readers.
However, when you are first starting out, everything is not so clear!
Thanks for your time
