Thanks Gunter.
That was exactly what I was looking for but was in the wrong spot in the API
documentation and looking under rendering services.  Oh, how I wish we could
search the Doxygen help document............... A simple search for %legend%
would have been very helpful in this case.

Hi Andy,

You can generate a legend image with the MappingServices
'GenerateLegendImage'-method. It generates a legend image for a given layer
in a userdefined size.
