There is a MySQL provider as well you could use. The problem is still similar. You need to have the required font support (code page/language stuff) installed on the server.

If you don't have a .cpg file you could create it by simply Googling the codepage for your language and saving the value (just the code that's it) in a file called .cpg. I suspect this isn't the problem. It's more likely the font being used to display the characters. Try using MS Gothic or P Gothic. That works for most Asian fonts.

Dear Dave,

I want to desplay Malayalam font of places that read from my MySQL database.I enter the unicode of that places in the table. I converted this table into .csv format and then convetred that into shape file.After conversion I got files with extensions .dbf,.sbx,.sbn.shp,.shx. There is no  .cpg  file.  Is there any way to connect the mysql table to the map directly to display malayalam or any other way for that? Please help me...

The font you need must be installed on the MapGuide server machine for this to work. There may also be a .cpg file with the .shp file which indicates the codepage. You might check this codepage/associated language files are installed on your MapGuide server machine as well. On Windows this is under Regional Settings.

I have doubt.How to display malayalam font in the map.I have shape file that contain malayalam unicode.Can I create a map using this shape file that displays malayalam in the map. Anybody know this,please help me.
