[mapguide-users] mapguide examples won't display, can't create new resources, possible permissions setup problem?

Hello all,

 

I’m very much new to MapGuide. After compilation from Subversion source
failed (I’m using Fedora 9; the Makefiles generated by ./configure resulted
in numerous errors and the like) I downloaded a copy of the Live CD, loaded
it into a virtual machine, and copied the MapGuide installation to the
server where I plan to run it. All the libraries I need are in place, and
apache and mgserver appear to start up without trouble. However, I appear to
have some permissions set wrong or something. Although the map viewer itself
will load in all the examples, the actual maps do not load. An attempt to
load a new Data connection in Maestro fails with the error:

 

 Unable to create the resource Library://{hex sequence} Error message:
System.Net.WebException: Error getting response stream (ReadDone2):
ReceiveFailure -à System.Exception: at System.Net.WebConnection

 

Any clue on what the problem is here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I notice mgserver won't start as a daemon; it only starts in
interactive mode, but perhaps this doesn't matter so much.
