[mapguide-users] How to invoke URL?

What I tried? 
I try to input the date for the key and $CurrentSelection for the value. 
The result is like that:
http://xx.xxx.xxx.xx/app?date=%24CurrentSelection

What is the meaning - %24CurrentSelection? 

Any suggestion will be appreciate.
