you just need to install the webserver extensions on your webserver

there are two viewer options, the classic viewer which is old skoool javascript
n frames or fusion which is cutting edge javascript & openlayers

I would recommend downloading the latest fusion (2.0) from the fusion website
http://trac.osgeo.org/fusion

The classic viewer is effectively EOL and prob won't be improved beyond
basic support fixes
