have you tried linking the excel table into access and accessing that?

otherwise, you could just load the spreadsheet into a real database
which will just work....

excel isn't exactly the best choice of datasource

sometimes if the angle your trying isn't working, it's best to re-evaluate
your approach and adopt one which is more traditional
