I am building the latest KingOra from the 3.5 branch and compiling into the
Release_FDO_3_4 configuration and I don't see the old "1SPATIAL" comments in
the source anymore:

However, can you please conform that the code block you changed was in the
switch/case for envelope intersects?
If so then the original problem is still valid - because where
"&SELECTIONVARIANT=INTERSECTS" this should not be calling the FDO operation
for FdoSpatialOperations_EnvelopeIntersects.
