[mapguide-users] Alpha transparency support in PNG8 output

Hi list,
Does anybody know what is the status of this 
http://trac.osgeo.org/mapguide/ticket/743 ticket ?
Does MG2.1 now support progressive transparency in PNG8 Output?  Because
it's annoying to have to use PNG24 when there is less than 256 colors. Files
size is really huge :(
