It's a pity. Frustrating because I built database and whole code behind based on assumption that string value can define linetype. I don't get it, if I type "Dot" in XML it's working :(

I don't know if this has any bearing, but LineStyle is an enumeration not a string in the simple style definitions:

I've personally found that advanced styling is far more flexible than the simple styling, though it has a bit of a learning curve...
