I had something really similar also with SQL Server 2008. It happened after making a few changes so things such as the join. I finally said forget it and rebuilt the layers from scratch exactly the same way and every worked perfect. I only had a few layers so it wasn't a huge deal. Just a thought.

Is there a URL we can have a  look at this?  What are the responses from 
Query.php and Selection.php (from the console).
