Ok corrected the data issue.  The order of the fields made all the
difference.
In the later version of MapGuide I had to put the Key field right before the
GEOMETERY column in the LayerDefinition xml - the only difference is that
the Order of the Properties moved the ID column in the Property Mapping.

  <Name>ID</Name> 
  <Value>ID</Value> 
 </PropertyMapping>

weirdest bug ever.
