[mapguide-users] Mapguide 64 bit and ODBC 64

I have tried to adjust ODBC settings, definitely not a tracing issue. Access is my only choice at this moment but I am open to SQL Server as we use it for some other things. I have not filed any bug reports. I have only managed to cobble together a very basic test. I'm not personally confident that my test is definitive enough to say for sure that this is a bug.
Interesting that Microsoft is planning on phasing out OLE DB in favour of ODBC for SQL Server. http://tdwi.org/Articles/2012/03/27/SQL-Server-2012-End-of-Era.aspx?Page=1
Thanks for the feedback.

I don't know that that's a solution - it's definitely a workaround though. I'm not sure if you can set OBDC settings/options from MGOS, but if you can, you might try this (in a nutshell, disabling "when to trace"):
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2010-access/my-solution-to-access-being-slow-with-odbc/a5a6522f-a70f-421e-af1b-48327075e010
I guess the question would be, is this an MGOS problem, or is it an ODBC (MS) problem? If changing the setting above makes the difference, then we've got our answer.

Perhaps the solution may be to use SQL Server, Oracle or MySQL. Access hasn't been a super big upgrade on Microsoft's plate.

I'd been trying to decided if this was the version that I should finally make the x64 switch, but it sounds like it's not, I guess. Here's hoping that someone has the time to delve into this and see if it can be fixed for the next release! Have you filed a bug for this officially?

It has taken some time to get here but I can say that I was able to install
and configure a 32 bit version of Mapguide 2.51 and the performance of the 3
affected data sources is double or better. That is to say, using 32 bit
Mapguide and 32 bit Access ODBC driver works more than twice as fast as 64
bit.
