[mapguide-users] FeatureSource connection to GPKG in MapGuide 3.1.2

I'm using MapGuide 3.1.2 and am trying to connect a feature source to a
geopackage ... which fails with a "Connect failed" message. Looking around
for a solution i stumbled across this issue regarding FDO Toolbox:

instructions from Jackie's post i managed to get the GPKG connection working
in the FDO Toolbox. Using the same procedure on MapGuide, however, didn't
work.

Is there any way i can get MapGuide to connect to a geopackage or is it
simply not possible because of some internal limitation in mapguide no
matter which GDAL/OGR release is dropped in?
