Zoom to specific Coordinates

Is it possible to send specific zoom parameters as part of a url?  With 
the existing MapGuide we currently have a way for users to just enter an 
address and then have a map pop up centered around the address.  I tried 
the same format using the OpenSource version and get an error.  As an 
example this is similar to the format that works with MapGuide 6.5: 
 http://localhost/maps/testmap.mwf?lat=33.7756&lon=117.9367&scale=1714.2
