Andy and Haris
Well I checked everything and found all in order, so re-booted the server "again" and now Oracle is working, did not change a thing. So guess it just needed and extra KICK to get things moving. Thanks for all your suggestions, I am sure I will be asking for more help again.

The client is installed, I did double check to make sure. (actually reinstalled the client) I also looked in the directory structure and found the oci.dll file.

Sound like you don't have Oracle client installed.
It will find tables which have record in xxx_sdo_geom_metadata view in Oracle.

I keep getting this error of being unable to connect to Oracle when I try to establish a connection with Studio.
When I work from the server, it does find the Oracle tables.
This is my first attempt at setting up a connection, any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Kim
