I found this quote in the license agreement: “… you must not … 10.3. pre-fetch, cache, or store any Content, except that you may store limited amounts of Content for the purpose of improving the performance of your Maps API Implementation if you do so temporarily, securely, and in a manner that does not permit use of the Content outside of the Service;” which in my opionion says I could cache it but I have to make sure that I can only access the cached data from my website. Do you have any experience with this?

They don't allow any access to the tiles except with the Google Maps API (AFAIK). So I wouldn't do this unless you have some special agreement with Google.

Regards,
Oliver
