A REAL TIME SAVER. (I used the DEB, I wish I hadn't followed the full
instructions first).
However, on Ubuntu 10.04, I have got an issue with python-yaml
(3.09-2build1).
I think I remember that MP couldn't read the config file.
I removed the python-yaml dependency, and it was OK.
But alas, not everyone can modify a DEB that way.
So, I suggest removing that dependency, and, should it be needed, suggest
sudo apt-get install python-yaml
or to use Synaptic
(after accessing the most recommendable version which is not always the
latest)

Here is a suggested doc update.
Angelos, could you fill your part?

Cheers,

André.

  Installation

This tutorial guides you to the MapProxy installation process on Unix
systems.

    Windows

For Windows refer to /Installation on Windows/
<http://mapproxy.org/docs/latest/install_windows.html>.

Ubuntu, and all Debian based (DEB package)

Download http://mapproxy.org/static/rel/mapproxy_1.4.0_all.deb
or any version *.deb file from http://mapproxy.org/static/rel/
Double click the file you have downloaded and click Install.
Et voilà.

    RPM based

    Other Unix systems.

This tutorial was created and tested with Debian 5.0/6.0 and Ubuntu
10.04 LTS, if you’re installing MapProxy on a different system you might
need to change some package names.
