[Mapserver-dev] speeding up mapserver

A key/value pair mechanism would be really nice.
We're gappling with how to elegantly add some form of a "requestid" in http headers, as well as perhaps some rudimentary identity info, that would cascade on to chained WMS/WFS/(WCS?(!)) services, and this would make it really easy to add without resorting to hanging obscure junk on the core typedefs.

I really do want to address this, sounds like a nice way to enhance
functionality and
speed, not to mention maintainability. I'd like to revisit after MUM2
though. Too much
to do and not enough time to do it.

Well, it's not something that we can't live without, but it would be
nice to
have a key/value property setter as a core function.
It would also unify mapserv and mapserv_fasctcgi, and perhaps future
mod_mapserver :).

Yes, I'm an ASF member and a commiter for Tomcat5 and Jakarta-commons,
mostly involved in tomcat connectors. I have done things like
ApacheMonitor,
Procrun, jk2, etc...
