We've never had a mechanism like this to gain investment in MapServer
directly (instead relying on contracts
through consultants, which could still happen I believe). Thoughts?

Folks,

One of the efforts of the OSGeo Fundraising Committee is to develop a
project oriented sponsorship mechanism.  That is a means by which
organizations can sponsor a particular project on which they depend,
but
routing the money through OSGeo for administration.

This call for feedback is basically aimed at the different projects to
ensure they feel it fulfills any need they have for such a program. 
The
current proposal is at:

Note that it is "opt in".  Projects not interested can just ignore it.
Feedback can be sent directly to me.

Actually, potential sponsors are also welcome to email me feedback on
whether it seems reasonable from their point of view!
