[mapserver-dev] Proposal to add built-in OpenLayers map viewer

All,

Actaully, this idea of "mode=browse (or custom)&template=openlayers" is an interesting approach. It leaves the idea of changing out the inspection framework to the admin and end users.

Now, just to muddy the waters further, if I want to use GeoMoose as my display of choice, might it be nice to see a method for MapServer to give up it's own getCapabilities type of list for these different mode=browse options? Maybe just looking for some sort of template file and giving up a "I support this framework" sort of reply.

Also, could something like a SLD work here as well, where the TEMPLATE was remote? Ok, maybe I'm getting to far ahead . . .

Does that not maybe lead to something more like
"mode=browse&template=openlayers" instead? Openlayers being a default
built-in template, but leaving the option to add other built-ins for
other frameworks?
