[mapserver-dev] 6.0 release scheduling

Hi Devs,

It seems that our 6.0 feature freeze date keeps slipping and I'd like to
take the lead to get 6.0 back on track.

What do people have to wrap up before a feature freeze? Could we
realistically aim for a Jan 30 freeze and stick to it this time?

I believe Steve had some work left to do for RFC-65 (and I and Alan are
willing to help with the implementation).

I and Alan reviewed a few old issues today and we think we could tackle
at least the following for 6.0:

- Mechanism to hide/show layers in OGC Services:
    http://trac.osgeo.org/mapserver/wiki/HidingLayersInOGCWebServices

- Ticket #3354/3355: Better handling of temporary files

- Quote escaping (I don't know if there is a ticket yet, but this comes
up every once in a while, and if a mapfile syntax change is required
then now is the time)

There was also a list of INSPIRE compliance issues that was sent to this
list a few months ago. I didn't have a chance to review it myself but I
believe Assefa did. Assefa: could we realistically address some/most of
these for 6.0?

What else are you currently working on that needs to be addressed for 6.0?

Daniel
