Alan,

I understand the aspects that relate to msTmpFile().  What is less clear to
me is what how the in memory temorary file handling will be implemented.
Will this be accomplished by hooking the mapio.c (msIO*) functions to use
CPL when available?

Would you be willing to enumerate the purposes for which temp files are
used in mapserver?  Do they all use msIO now?  Should any of them deliberately
be kept in the IMAGEPATH to be web accessable or was that always just a
side effect?
