I'm -0 too. It's just churn.
I have made many naming sins in my software. Fixing a name doesn't absolve the sin, it creates a new one.
I don't find the rationale for the change particularly compelling. I completely understand why the name is bad relative to today's MapServer, but to break things to make it consistent with something even *more* generic doesn't seem worth it.
We're not about to rename all of GDAL's utilities to make them consistent twenty years after GDAL came out despite many/most/this users never being able to remember which utilities are snake case.
