In the meantime there is cute prototype project using ForNet 2.3 at
http://www.nccnsw.org.au/mapping/bushland

This illustrates the use of distributed  data layers accessed via a middleware
application. We have a far more sophisticated production version which we'll be
presenting to the OGC next week.
