Not in 3.5 anymore. The layer parameters legend and description have been replaced with a general metadata class that allows for much more flexability. You might write:

METADATA
  LEGENDIMAGE "..."
  TITLE "..."
END

then in the template you could use [layername_legendimage]. Unfourtunately I haven't gotten around to adding those template substitutions yet. I'll try over the weekend.

Could someone coach me in the use of [layername_leg]? 
Is this still functional in recent nightly builds?

I assumed that I could include:

<img src="[MyLayerName_leg]">

to get a legend image for MyLayerName.  When I tried
this, I get the broken image symbol in my window. 
When I view the html source, I see that
[MyLayerName_leg] isn't getting replaced with the path
to the legend.  Is my thinking correct on this?
