[mapserver-users] mapscript (perl) & java

greetings all!  i have my basic mapscript up and running, but now i'm
looking at options for expanding functionality and jazzin' it up a bit.  i
saw a really slick example on the dmsolutions website where php mapscript
was mated to java and was wondering if the same can be achieved with perl
and java.  if so, is there any example code out there i can take a gander
at?  and if not, any thoughts on how to go about this?  thanks in advance!
