Hi!
i would suggest you use macromedia flash ;)
with the latest version of flash (mx) you really have a great tool to interact with
all kinds of server side technology, including tapping directly into webservices.
the problem is, you have to know how to program in flash ;)

i am planning on going in that direction, and at the moment there is only one
technical obstacle that i am not quite sure of how to solve;
the ability to translate coordinates in "pixelspace" to "latlongspace".
