Hi Mukta,

from my experience, mapserver works fine with gcc 2.95. I have
compiled everything with it and never had any problem.

What I could imagine is a conflict between a preinstalled and a
self-compiled gd version - do a 'locate libgd.a' and 'locate
libgd.so', and you should them find in only one location (except maybe
for the build directory)
