TrueType font support in scalebar

I have been experimenting with pdf support lately and have found out
that I am not able to output a map with an embedded scalebar because
scalebars don't have support for truetype fonts (only bitmap).

Is there any plan to support true type fonts in scalebars in the (near)
future?

Please answer, this is very important to me.
