Hallo,

first I found an error in your docu. You added a symbol-example which looks
as follows:

SYMBOL   
  NAME "cartoline"
  TYPE cartoline
  LINECAP butt
  LINEJOIN miter
  LINEJOINMAXSIZE 1
  STYLE 10 5
END

Here the 'END' is missing in the STYLE-syntax.

Second, has someone a simple example how to use the STYLE-Object in the
map-File?

There is support in MapServer 4.x right now. Use a cartoline symbol. See 
the attached documentation.
