thread safe implementations

Umberto, I would like to have a java interface to Mapserver.  Have you used
Geoserver?  They have a java implementation of a WMS.  I'm not sure what the
performance is like, but it would be nice to have a similar interface to
Mapserver.

if by creating a java implementation you mean writing a web app to deliver
the
same (or  subset) of the functionality the cgi does, then I am writing one.

I think I am one of the few java mapscript users around :-)
