standalone build for free/limited access web host ?

Hello all,

I was wondering (even after extensive web searches) if there is a
"compact" (linux) build version of MapServer : the goal is to be able to
use free or limited webhosting services, with only access to the cgi-bin
directory.

Is that possible ? With wich limitations ? (a special compilation
configuration perhaps ?).
