PNG transparency in ie

Is the problem that you can't seem to force MapServer to produce an indexed
color mode PNG file, or that even when you do it doesn't seem to set the
transparency value properly? There may be something we need to alter in
our handling of PNG generation in MapServer. But not knowing too much
about the quirks of different browsers in this regard, it isn't clear to me
yet what is wrong with the pngs generated by MapServer.
