distanceToSegment

hello,
      i am working upon a Gis project using PHP-mapscript 4.3.4 and mapserver 4.0.1 in windows environment.
      My task is to calculate the distance between two places in the map.For that i am trying to use distanceToSegment function.But while using this i only faced the error message \"call to undefined function \".
       Any suggesation or code in solving this will  be greatfuly accepted.
