distance

hello,
      i am working upon a Gis project using PHP-mapscript 4.3.4and mapserver 4.0.1 in windows environment.
      My task is tocalculate the distance between two point objects of the map.For
that i amtrying to use distanceToSegment function.But while using this i
onlyfaced the error message \"call to undefined function \".
        Is there is anything else of solving this problem ?
       Any suggesation or code in solving this will  be greatfuly accepted.
