embed text when group member is on

Hi 
I am trying to figgure out how i can embed text when a member of a group is
turned on using the mapserver 4.6 cgi. I can turn on a single layer and have
embeded text. But i have 20 layers that belong to a group and would like to be
able to have embeded text when any layer of the group is turned on. Is there a
easy way to do this?
