Newbie : where can I find national maps ?

Hello,

I have traveled to many countries around the world and I would like to create 
a map of the place I've been to ( <http://thocar.org/gallery> )

I've found a lot of documentation of how to use different map format with 
mapserver, but I've'nt found a map repository freely available with countries 
I've been to (Mexico, India, Malaysia, Kenya, USA, ...)
