Variable Substitution

Hi,
 
On the MapServer WebSite, there is an example on "Run-time Substitution"
(http://mapserver.gis.umn.edu/docs/howto/runsub/?searchterm=parameter) that
looks like this :
LAYER
  NAME 'covertypes'
  ...
  CLASSITEM 'type'
  CLASS # highlighted presentation
    EXPRESSION '%ctype%'
    ...
  END
  CLASS # default presentation
    ...
  END
END
I would like to know if there is a way to specify the value of my '%ctype%'
variable in a URL like this one :
http://myserver/mapserv.exe?map=mymapfile.map&Service=WMS&Version=1.0.0&Requ
est=GetMap&Layers=mylayer1,mylayer2&SRS=epsg:xyz
