Hi Walter

It is not TRANSPARENT, it is:

TRANSPARENCY: Sets the transparency level of all classed pixels for a
given layer. The value is a percentage (0-100) where 100 is opaque and 0
is fully transparent.

Example:

	LAYER
		NAME "Switzerland Relief"
		MINSCALE 100000
		TYPE RASTER
                TRANSPARENCY 50
		STATUS ON
		DATA "Relief.tif"
		PROCESSING "RESAMPLE=AVERAGE"
		PROJECTION
		 "init=world:CH1903"
		END
	END

See as well our MapFile reference on http://umn.mapserver.ch.

Mit freundlichem Gruss / Best Regards
Flavio Hendry
