poor rendering quality on labels

Hi all,

I have some troubles in building a quality printout from Mapserver.
In the attached image I show you what I get from Mapserver: labels are not clear, they seem out of focus and very difficult to read.
It is possible to get a sharper image (at least on labels)?
I used a PNG24 output format.
