Hmmmm... but why... Vector symbols for lines aren't much use anyway. Just to be safe, would you mind filing a bug related to this (vector line symbols don't show up in query maps)?

as usual you have pointed my attention on the real issue:
"dash_2" comes from itasca_demo symbols and is of type vector.
This is the problem.
Using circle as symbol hilighting works fine !!
