CLASS NAME from attribute table?

Hi list,

it would be very convenient if one could specify a column for the NAMEs of
CLASSes, to be read from the attribute table. This is mostly convenient for
the construction of legends.

Is this already possible (it could be that I have missed something ...),
otherwise I'll open up an enhancement bug.
