Identifying a size-scaled symbol point

Hi,

I've defined a symbol (a square) that I use with my point shapefile.

The problem is this: the symbol size varies with the map scale.

So, how can I identify the point if the symbol is greater, AND, within
the scale-based size of symbol ?
