Hi Dieter,
I also just used MS4W's PHP (PHP version 8.3.9) to call the setOpacity()
function, to update the layer's opacity, such as:
$oPolyLayer->setOpacity(40);
(see sample script at https://ms4w.com/trac/wiki/SWIGMapScriptOpacity )
