Of course, in that sense they are a complete waste of time and money
unless you are on dialup.

Yes, especially those used to proprietary software.  "Look what I got!
It even runs for 30 days for free!  How lucky am I!"  Still, at least it
might sit on peoples desk for some time afterwards, and remind them to
do something about it.

Ok, I'll look into it.  I did notice the desktop live cd at
http://livecd.ominiverdi.org/wiki/index.php/Desktop_2007.1 but reading
the notes it looks a little dated.
