[Marketing] Logo Design

Hi all,

Perhaps good too bring in mind the way QGis changed it's logo recently.
A few years ago a first attempt was made by asking the entire community
to send in options, proposals etc.
That didnt'w ork out.
Last year, in a second attempt, a professional designer was asked to
design a logo, and the community unanimously voted in favor of it [1].

For the OSGeo logo we skipped the first attempt, and immediately went to
the "external designed" route.
Seems like our community sort of needed the first attempt in order to be
able to accept the external design ;-)

The QGis project proudly announced the new logo, complete with a new
styleguide and a call to local groups to be creative and use the new
logo as a base for their new local logos. [2]

Let's take that as an example for the new OSGeo logo implementation.

Kind regards,

Gert-Jan
