Folks,
There is no need to address this immediately, but in the somewhat longer
term, I'm hoping this group will produce some web materials somewhat like
my feeble effort above to describe projection methods, their parameters,
and how they map into different CRS description mechanisms - both software
based (PROJ.4, CS-Map) as well as file format (WKT, GeoTIFF, EPSG, GML).
I'm basically hoping for a sort of "rosetta stone" effort to help folks
understand to translate CRS definitions.
I also hope at some point to bring libgeotiff into MetaCRS since it is
really just a thin mechanism to enable describing coordinate systems with
a set of tags. As such, almost all the challenges with it relate to
access to CRS dictionaries, interpreting projection method parameters,
and mapping to other formats like WKT or PROJ.4 format (so far).
Anyways ... that is for the future.
Today I will launch into work to setup SVN for MetaCRS, and particular
Trac instances for the subprojects starting with CS-Map, then PROJ4JS.
Best regards,
