Norm / Charles,
I'll add that Charles has been an active participant in the PROJ.4 mailing
list, and I've had a good impression of the rigor of the math in
GeographicLib. I am not positive if it will gain a large user base, but
I've already appreciated it very much as a testing place for innovative
new algorithm implementations.
I believe he also has some best-of-breed great-circle computations in
GeographicLib.
I will prepare a motion to adopt GeographicLib as part of MetaCRS.
