Hi list,
the Zenodo helpdesk responded regarding how to structure and name a JSON file for the metadata, especially concerning authorship, coders, maintainers, etc:
----
In Zenodo we have the ".zenodo.json" file which complies with the Zenodo metadata schema.
Part of our plans and ongoing work is to integrate also other software metadata schemas such as CITATION.cff and codemeta.json.
We are not sure yet exactly when or in what form all this files will be integrated with each other which is something we will decide based on the user and community feedback
To achieve overwriting some of the default metadata that would come from a regular GitHub release you will have to use the ".zenodo.json" file at the root of your GitHub repository.
The JSON Schema followed by the ".zenodo.json" file is at https://zenodo.org/schemas/deposits/records/legacyrecord.json and is documented in our developer docs at https://developers.zenodo.org/?python#deposit-metadata. We're planning on updating our documentation and links throughout Zenodo to ease the usage of this feature.
----
Will work on this later this week.
Best,
Peter
